Prevention and Control of Respiratory Diseases Excluding Mycoplasma Hyopneumoniae

چکیده
Introduction Significant changes in respiratory disease have occurred over the last 20 years. There are two primary reasons for this. In the first instance, there has been the occurrence of two major worldwide plagues-PRRS and PCV2-associated diseases. The second reason has been the considerable advances in vaccination, which have become available for some of the respiratory diseases, in particular Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae. Vaccines have also become available for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRS), influenza viruses (outside UK) and probably in the near future against porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2).

Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae potentiation of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus-induced pneumonia.
An experimental model that demonstrates a mycoplasma species acting to potentiate a viral pneumonia was developed. Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, which produces a chronic, lymphohistiocytic bronchopneumonia in pigs, was found to potentiate the severity and the duration of a virus-induced pneumonia in pigs. Pigs were inoculated with M. hyopneumoniae 21 days prior to, simultaneously with, or 10 days a...
متن کاملDiagnosis of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae.
Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, the cause of enzootic pneumonia, remains an important pathogen in the swine industry. This small, complex organism colonizes the ciliated cells of the respiratory tract, resulting in little exposure to the immune system. Confirming the presence of M. hyopneumoniae, as well as identifying its role in respiratory disease and pneumonia, remains challenging to the veterina...

Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, a component of the porcine respiratory disease complex, colonizes the respiratory tract of swine by binding to the cilia of the bronchial epithelial cells. Mechanisms of pathogenesis are poorly understood for M. hyopneumoniae, but previous work has indicated that it responds to the environmental stressors heat shock, iron deprivation and oxidative compounds. For succes...
متن کاملOral immunization of mice with attenuated Salmonella typhimurium aroA expressing a recombinant Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae antigen (NrdF).
Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae is the etiological agent of porcine enzootic pneumonia, a commercially expensive respiratory disease of swine. Salmonella typhimurium SL3261 was used as a live carrier of plasmid pKF1, which encodes a 15-kDa recombinant M. hyopneumoniae protein. This expressed recombinant protein consists of the carboxy-terminal 11 kDa of a 42-kDa M. hyopneumoniae NrdF ribonucleotide re...
متن کاملImpact of diversity of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae strains on lung lesions in slaughter pigs
The importance of diversity of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (M. hyopneumoniae) strains is not yet fully known. This study investigated the genetic diversity of M. hyopneumoniae strains in ten pig herds, and assessed associations between the presence of different strains of M. hyopneumoniae and lung lesions at slaughter. Within each herd, three batches of slaughter pigs were investigated. At slaught...
